Surf's Up

Be jealous. We're hanging at the beach this week!

Merry Maids

So, I'm pretty sure this violates some kind of child labor law.

LYLAS

"LM, let's go sit in the bumbos and talk... 'cause you're my best friend."

LOVE IT.

In A Pickle

Last night I sauteed some summer squash for dinner (for the first time in well over a year) and when LM saw it on her plate, she looked at me and said, "No tank you, pickle."

Mmmm... that means I got to eat her pickles. BigM's, too. So I won't be making pickles again for supper.

Carnivore

I never thought I'd see the day that my oldest child would eat any of this, except maybe the bread. (Because you can't make a peanut butter & honey sandwich without bread.)She didn't know until just very recently that there are variations as to what you can put in a sandwich.
I'd say she likes, it, wouldn't you?

Spa Day!

Try not to be jealous, but I got a custom mani and pedi today, courtesy of BigM. Don't my nails and toes look awesome? BigM's class had "Spa Day" at school this morning to celebrate Mother's Day and not only did I get the above professional treatment, I also got a paraffin hand wax, a diet coke AND a massage (aka beaten) with this thing-y. Did I also tell you that Lolli, Choo-choo, BigM and I are going to see Mary Poppins tonight at the theater? We're going to dress up real fancy and take lots of pictures (stay tuned!) and I have been debating all afternoon if I should de-beautify my hands and toes since we'll be hob-nobbing with the other fancy people... but I was saddened this morning to learn that one of the little boys in BigM's class unexpectedly lost his mama to cancer this past December. And as the class has been celebrating Mother's Day every day this week, he's not been taking it well. Since his mommy wasn't able to be at Spa Day, BigM's teacher let him paint her toenails and he gave every Mama in the room impromptu hugs. I was actually moved to tears when I found out why I got squeezed so tightly by a little boy I had never even seen before.

So I decided I will cherish this mani and pedi and probably leave on the polish until it rubs right off (which shouldn't take too long, seeing as BigM's aim is a little lacking) because I am so blessed and honored that I am here to share these kinds of memories with my children, despite the fact that I look like I let a four year old paint my nails. ('Cause, you know, that's exactly what happened.)
