Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

As heard in the playroom this morning:

(Handing LM a pretend mug) BigM: Here, LM, drink this coffee. It has orange poo-poo in it.
[From the kitchen] MM: BigM, we don't need to use words like that; that's disgusting.
BigM (incredulously): I know! And she's STILL drinking it!

Pickin'

Today we went to the Strawberry Patch with some of our favorite friends. As you can probably guess, we picked strawberries. There's not much else to tell about it.

BigM did a lot of this, while LM did a LOT more of this...

(my personal favorite)

Call Girl

This is what happens if I leave her alone for more than 18 seconds.

Mani a mani

BigM's actual birthday was on Saturday, so we went for manis to celebrate. (Because, you know, a school party on Friday and a friends party on Sunday isn't celebration enough.) We have had a deal going for about 6 months now- BigM asked me if she could have nail polish on her fingernails like some of her friends at school, so I (brilliantly) told her if she could stop biting her fingernails and grow them out long, I would paint her nails. Well, I'm still waiting for her to stop biting her nails, but I figure if nothing else, I have a great excuse to get *my* nails done once a year. (And obviously, she picked out that color all by herself.)

You Scream, I Scream

Seeing as we never do anything halfway around here (okay, that doesn't apply to cleaning or anything) we began BigM's 4th Birthday Extravaganza Weekend by making cupcakes for her school party*.Of course, the icing had to be pink.
Adding the water and oil...

Mixing, mixing...

Taste-testing to make sure they aren't laced with poison
(unless you count HFCS or trans-fats)...

And voila, ice cream cone cupcakes!
(In case you are wondering how to do this, all we did was put batter in the muffin tin and put ice cream cones upside down on top. The batter will rise into the cone and all you have to do is very carefully pull them out, ice and add sprinkles. They were a huge hit with all the kids.)
*school party- not to be confused with actual the Sock Hop birthday party

This Little Piggy

Who knew her hair was long enough for pigtails?

It Takes Two

I have been looking for the 18 months/2T spring clothes in our house for the last three weeks. It has taken me a full 21 days to finally find them all space-bagged up with the other baby clothes that had been sorted and stored. (Unfortunately, now I only have 0-9 months sorted and stored after unearthing the clothes that will actually fit LM.) I believe they were in the attic space because I didn't even think she would wear them, I guess I assumed that she would not get to be in 18m spring clothes since she's so little (yes, most of the time I have her in 12 months stuff. Okay, I've actually been trying to make do with some winter stuff because like I said, I couldn't find that bag until just now.)

Thankfully, one of my very favorite friends gave us beau coups of 2T girls clothes, with a smattering of 18 months thrown in there, because I discovered tonight as I painstakingly pulled the clothes out of the bag that BigM did, indeed, skip 18 months spring clothes. They are all a little big, but not big enough to justify buying her a brand new wardrobe. So after a little laundry, LM will no longer be wearing cropped pants and long t-shirts with the sleeves pushed up when it's 80 degrees out.

Which brings me to the point of this post. I have never felt all sad and nostalgic seeing LM in BigM's hand-me-downs, but I was just all torn up inside as I put all the clothes that BigM wore around the time LM was born in the hamper to wash. Seeing those clothes brought me back to a time when we were just a family of three- and then watching BigM adjust as a big sister. There is something magical about Age Two and I'm just positive I'm not exactly ready to do it all over again.

I can't wait.
