Kickin' Back

Yesterday BigM had her very first soccer practice. I wish I could give you some indication about how it went down, but I was home putting LM to bed and doing the dishes. I did take a picture of her in her brand new PINK striped cleats, so don't hold your breath or anything, but someday in the far future I'll add that picture here.

She looked pretty stinking adorable, if I do say so myself.

I did receive this little tidbit- since she made the birthday cut-off for the team by 6 days, she is the smallest one out there and a few of her teammates are starting season 2 this year. This could get very interesting.

Say What?!?

LM's vocabulary is just exploding these days.

On Sunday, we were getting ready to head out to the park with our neighbors, and I told LM our mommy friend was going to be there, so she got really excited and started running towards the back door. I followed her, saying, "And Laura will be there, too!" She stops dead in her tracks, turns around and looks at me and says, "What you talking about?" (Actually, she said, "Wah-oo-ta-bout?")

And yesterday morning, LM was sitting in her high chair eating breakfast, when she pointed at the pink ballerina's tutu on her pajamas and very clearly said, "I wike pink."

Way to be a girly-girl. I wike pink, too.

Love ya!

Directly after learning the definition of "adore," BigM and I shared the following conversation:

MM: Hey, you know what I adore?
BigM: What?
MM: YOU.
BigM: (smiling from ear to ear) You know what I adore?
MM: (smugly) What?
BigM: Cheese.

Oh. Well, okay.

Simon Says

BigM has always been a huge fan of television. And since we watch t.v. in lieu of a regular quiet time (when every other normal child would have/should have been napping) she owns quite a few different types of videos. That's also due to the fact that we cut off our cable while we were in dental school. (I kind of wish we could do that now, but then again, how else would I know that Ali chose her career over love?!?!?!)

For awhile, BigM's obsession was with Little Einsteins and we only have one video with four episodes. Sometime back with BigM was 2, I distinctly remember Leo asking the audience something like, "Can you help us find the little instrument fairy? Look all around." and she just sat there. I asked her, "BigM, aren't you going to help Leo?" and she looked at me as as though I had just suggested she wear her father's clothes to school and said, "Mom. I can't do dat. I'm not in da teebee." I was actually really proud of her, at her young age, for not believing she was on television and for knowing that what she was watching wasn't real.

We're apparently taking a short hiatus from our regular Dora watching, and she's watching the Little Einstein's video for the first time in at least 10 months. June just told her she needed to help the silly puppets get through the Pastry Factory without getting sugar on their heads and BigM shouted at the television, "Okay, I can do dat!" and drug her chair in front of the tv and started ducking her head and lifting her feet to show the puppets how to do escape without jelly on their feet and sugar in their hair.

So somehow we're regressing, but it's pretty cute to watch her do it. And LM already does what Dora tells her to ("Say, Backpack!" and "Say, Arriba!") Maybe if I say it in Spanish, LM will stop trying to climb on the dining room table.

J-E-L-L-O

I've been getting up every morning at 4 am so that I can be in my friend's garage at 5 am to do P90X, a workout program that I'm not entirely convinced wasn't drafted by Satan himself. (Google it if you don't know what that is. It's definitely not jazzercise, I can tell you that.)

It's been a little over 3 weeks and I still hadn't decided if it was worth it, until just a minute ago when LM and I were hanging in the bed. She was watching Coos (aka Blue's Clues) and I was checking email. Since I'm nothing but honest here, my shirt had started to ride up a little bit, leaving my belly button exposed.

Apparently, my stomach hasn't quite yet reached its' full potential, because LM has been lovingly poking, patting and shaking it for the last 10 minutes. It doesn't help that she is laughing while she does it.

I'll be back at it early tomorrow morning. Thanks for the motivation, LM. I do appreciate it.
